The Office (BBC): The Special

***DISCLAIMER*** The following review is entirely my opinion. If you comment (which I encourage you to do) be respectful. If you don't agree with my opinion, that's fine. To each their own. I am just sharing my opinions and perspective. Finally, the reviews are given on a scale of 1-5. 1, of course, being terrible. 2, being not great. 3, being okay. 4, being good and 5, being epic!

The Office (BBC): The Special - 5 out of 5

Season 2 could have been a perfect ending to this fantastic series but series creators Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant decided that, rather than do a full third season, to do a two-part Christmas episode that consisted of returning to the business that the mockumentary was about. Brilliant premise, is all I have to say.

Returning to the business offered a fresh start with the characters as they were all in new situations and that made for a very grabbing final run of this awesome show. Former boss David Brent is no longer with the company and trying to make it as a celebrity and using his fame from the mockumentary to his advantage. Brent's former underling Gareth (Mackenzie Crook) is now the boss and Tim (Martin Freeman) has accepted his lot in life and has settled for his career at the company and is forced to deal with love's past as the mockumentary crew decides to reunite the office with their former secretary, Dawn (Lucy Davis) who left at the end of season two for America. All this interacting with each other created a very VERY rich story to play on and when that's combined with the continuing top notch acting and humor, this special made for the perfect wrap up to one of television's greatest shows.
