America's Sweethearts

***DISCLAIMER*** The following review is entirely my opinion. If you comment (which I encourage you to do) be respectful. If you don't agree with my opinion, that's fine. To each their own. I am just sharing my opinions and perspective. Finally, the reviews are given on a scale of 1-5. 1, of course, being terrible. 2, being not great. 3, being okay. 4, being good and 5, being epic!

America's Sweethearts - 2.5 out of 5

Typical romantic comedy with a few genuine laughs but not enough to cover the fact it is still your run of the mill romantic comedy. Sure there's an all star cast but often when you have a lot of big name stars, it is usually an example of a budget gone wild and weak writing. And the bad writing is surprising because Peter Tolan and Billy Crystal wrote it. Perhaps a few different casting choices, this movie could have been better. For example, the presence of Julia Roberts in this movie. I know people love her and the media keeps telling us she is so beautiful but she is NOT a good actor. She plays every character the exact same way and, I'm sorry, she is not attractive. In fact, I find her so UNattractive that it is distracting. Lips like a fish and nostrils that you can park the Battlestar Galactica in does not make for a good looking woman. However, there are some good things about this movie. Billy Crystal and Seth Green have some great scenes together that are genuinely funny. John Cusack is great and Christopher Walken's part, although short, is memorable. Also, Hank Azaria is just fantastic in this movie. I really wish The Simpsons would get canceled and he would do more movie parts because he is so talented. Overall, this movie isn't worth more than a cursory glance due to the terrible cliche nature of it all.
